Me and my family moved to Cheshire in 1963 and initially lived in Manley for 18 months. In 1965 we bought a very run down small farm in Woodside, which is on the edge of Ashton parish. Our 4 children grew up there and attended Ashton Primary school initially before the present school building was built. Despite living 2 miles from the centre of the village I have always tried to be involved with village activities and was on the inaugural PTA, the Scouts Committee and the Village Hall Committee and was on the Parochial Church Council for many years. I chaired the sub-committee which oversaw the reordering of the church building to make it more accessible for use by the whole community. My work as a GP in Chester and later as a locum doctor at the Hospice of the Good Shepherd has given me a special interest in the physical and mental health of all ages. As a Parish Councillor I am keen to work to protect and promote the environment and the community spirit of our parish which makes it a special place to live in and to bring up children.
