I first came to live in Ashton Hayes in 1992 – renting a cottage at Woodside Farm before purchasing Ty Celyn on Church Road in 1993. We lived there until 2005, moving up Grange Road to Ashton Grange Stables. We are currently in the process of leaving there to move to the recently converted Gladstone Barns. So, we have lived in the same parish to bring up our 3 children who attended Ashton Primary School and then local high schools, and for all my working life as a GP North Cheshire. My husband Richard Stradling has become involved in the village with the Community shop, Energy Company and the Recreational field.
We have always enjoyed all the benefits of the village life and with recent retirement I feel I have the opportunity to give back some of my time and help support the Parish to be a safe, happy and welcoming place for all who live in it.
My particular interests are with nature, the environment and the opportunities for all to enjoy outdoor spaces and lead an active and healthy life. I volunteer for the Woodland Trust group in Frodsham and have a strong affection for trees and woodlands.
For this reason, I would be particularly interested in public access to all footpaths and open spaces in the Parish and would be willing to help maintain the thoroughfare for all. I would welcome being involved with local woodlands such as Andrew’s wood and Brines Brow.
I have also always been very concerned about safety and traffic through the village and would fully support the ongoing intentions to control traffic speed and maintain safety for pedestrians and cyclists through the village – particularly with the Nursery and School in our community as well as an elderly population.
Alongside this, I would be happy to be involved in other aspects of the Parish Council.
I have always worked with people, valued others and been an active team member in all my working life and would hope to bring some of these skills to a different setting in my local community.
